    "When God Ran
Almighty God, the great I am
Immovable rock, omnipotent, powerful, awesome Lord
Victorious warrior, commanding King of Kings
Mighty conqueror, and the only time
the only time I ever saw Him run

    CHORUS:
Was when He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said My sons come home again
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said,
Son do you know I still love you?
He caught me by surprise when God ran

The day I left home I knew Id broken His heart
And I wondered then if things could ever be the same
Then one night I remembered His love for me
And down that dusty road ahead I could see
It was the only time it was the only time I ever saw Him run

And then He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said My sons come home again
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said,
Son do you know I still love you?
He caught me by surprise as He brought me to my knees
When God ran I saw Him run to me

    BRIDGE:
I was so ashamed, all alone and so far away
But now I know Hes been waiting for this day

I saw Him run to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said My sons come home again
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice I felt His love for me again

He ran to me, He took me in His arms
Held my head to His chest, said My sons come home again
Lifted my face, wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in His voice He said, Son, He called me Son
He said, Son do you know I still love you?
He ran to me and then I ran to Him
    When God ran

    God bless you all "

You can see in this clip examples of medium, close and extreme close range stick and dagger work as taught to Sifu O'Melia (the MN State Rep for Pekiti Tirsia Intl.) and his students. As an instructor under Sifu O'Melia it has been my honor and pleasure to be constantly exposed to the highest quality of instruction and consistent instilling of the basic principles that make the Filipino Martial Arts a staple in my Martial diet. Pekiti Tirsia, from the Vasayan region of the Phillipines, is a close range edged weapons combat system that emphasizes mobility, and education in the proper use of the technology (the blade, stick, and even in some cases firearm). You can see more Pekiti Tirsia at Tuhon McGrath's youtube channel, take a class with Sifu O'Melia at the MN Kali Group in Minneapolis, or contact me. "

Gene (former missionary to the Philippines for 20+ years with Navigators), Mary (his wife), and Connie (his daughter) posing at their house in Janurary 2005

Bio: Gene's missionary work to the Philippines kind of had it's beginnings when he was to partake a 1 month-only trip to Taiwan. He played the trumpet and was invited with a musical group to perform there in honor of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek. After meeting some Filipinos there and going to the Philippines, he fell in love with the people there and the one-month trip ended up being a 20 year-trip. He got married in 1952. His kids were all born in the Philippines and many live in Minnesota.
